About the Item

This striking abstract painting by Vancouver artist Pat Service was inspired by a watercolour of a lake in summer. Bright orange waters, a band of trees in soft yellow, a cabin in orange, a blue boat on the shore and a raft in soft yellow rendered in simple shapes creates the scenario. By layering the paint over and over again and using glazes the colour is intensified. This is one in a series. “Colour, line, texture and composition are the players; the playground is the canvas.” Pat Service She acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
